Complaints and Objections

This section explains the process of filing a complaint or objecting to a pay equity plan,
and the investigation process.

Introducing the Complaint or Objection Process

Pay equity is an ongoing process designed to ensure that employees in female job classes are not subjected to systemic gender discrimination in their compensation. Part of this process is the employee's right to file a complaint or object to a pay equity plan.

Complaints and objections are different in the following way:

  • an employee can complain about the manner in which pay equity was done, or may complain that pay equity wasn't done;
  • an employee can object to the terms stated on a pay equity plan.

In this part of the case study, you will find information on:

  • the complaint and objection process at STC and the Commission;
  • the role of a Review Officer; and
  • deadlines associated with making complaints or objections.
