Creation of a New Job Class

Creating an entirely new job class or bringing significant changes to an existing job class can impact on pay equity in the following ways:

  • A new female job class must achieve pay equity immediately.

  • A new male job class could be used as a comparator where no male job comparator was available before under the Job-to-Job approach.

  • A new male job class could become part of the representative group of male jobs under the Proportional Value approach, thus affecting the wage line and any female jobs that achieved pay equity under this method.

STC dealt with the new job class issue for the Customer Service Clerk job class. Click here to view this page.
