CommitteesSetting up a committee is not required by the Act. STC's decisionSTC felt that setting up a committee to evaluate jobs, even though this was not required by law, was the most efficient way to proceed. They decided that four staff members and one management representative would work with a job evaluation consultant to adapt and modify a system and develop a weighting formula. The committee would also evaluate jobs by applying the system to the job information collected. STC decided the role of the committee at the outset and set out the guidelines and policies for the committee in a 'Terms of Reference' document. There is a sample "Terms of Reference for Pay Equity Committees" in the Tools section of this case study.
