  1.   Does Jennifer have a pay equity issue?

Jennifer works as a welder. The only female among 5 others at ABC Welds Inc., she has worked for the same company for 3 years. Jennifer found out that Mike, who is also a welder, was hired 3 months ago and makes more than she does. Does Jennifer have a pay equity issue?

Yes. Jennifer does have a pay equity issue. She is a female and pay equity covers women in the workplace.
No. It is not a pay equity issue. Only female dominated jobs can receive adjustments under the Pay Equity Act.
It depends. If Mike has additional experience to explain the difference in wages then it would not be covered.
Sometimes it’s a pay equity issue. Pay equity means that if a woman can do the job, then it’s covered by the Act.
